Officials said the accused was allegedly running a large and highly organized cocaine trafficking network spanning major cities, including Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, and had been evading arrest in dozens of cases. Authorities reportedly recovered cocaine worth millions of rupees along with chemical substances used in drug production, as well as firearms and other weapons. Officials described the raid as one of the most significant recent crackdowns on synthetic drug manufacturing in the region, highlighting the scale and sophistication of the alleged network. Investigators claim that the suspect operated a well-structured distribution system designed to avoid detection and allegedly used female couriers to move narcotics discreetly between cities. He is also accused of personally producing high-value cocaine and managing what officials described as a “mobile drug production setup,” allowing operations to shift locations frequently.
Controversy emerged when the suspect was presented in court without handcuffs, prompting immediate criticism from senior police officials. Sindh Inspector General Javed Alam Odho took notice of the matter and ordered an inquiry into possible procedural violations.
Authorities have suspended the officers involved for alleged negligence, while a detailed investigation is underway. A high-level committee has also been formed to review whether proper protocols were followed, and Karachi police leadership has initiated a separate inquiry into the handling of the suspect during court proceedings.
