The Vancouver chapter of MAX Mentorship officially launched its 2026 mentorship program on May 8 with a successful speed mentoring event hosted at Deloitte Vancouver. The evening brought together mentors, mentees, and professionals from across industries for a night focused on connection, professional growth, and community building. The program opened with welcoming remarks from Sarramysse Cherif, Vancouver Lead for MAX Mentorship, who introduced the vision for the upcoming cycle and highlighted the growing momentum of the program in Vancouver. Representatives from Deloitte, Seif Kefi and Ali Mujliani, also addressed participants, thanking attendees for joining and speaking about the importance of mentorship, professional guidance, and creating spaces where emerging professionals can build meaningful networks.
Misbah Naseer, National Managing Director for MAX Mentorship and lead for Vancouver programming, followed with remarks on the importance of Muslim identity in professional spaces and the role community-centered mentorship can play in helping professionals navigate their careers with confidence and purpose. She also highlighted the range of programming MAX now offers nationally designed to support Muslim professionals at different stages of their journey and encouraged others to get involved. This year, the mentorship program is running in five cities, including Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and National Capital Region (Ottawa – Gatineau).
Sarramysse Cherif then provided participants with an overview of the event and upcoming programming planned from May through November. Following the presentation, participants took part in icebreakers and speed mentoring conversations, where mentees connected directly with professionals from a wide range of industries and backgrounds.
The energy throughout the evening was enthusiastic and welcoming, with participants expressing excitement about the opportunity to meet others navigating similar professional journeys. Many attendees left feeling encouraged, motivated, and eager to continue building relationships through the program.
As interest in mentorship and professional development continues to grow in Vancouver, plans to expand its local programming through additional workshops, networking events, and industry panel discussions based on community interest and feedback. Reported by: Miracle
