The Shaukat Khanum Research Foundation BC Chapter organized a fundraising gala dinner in support of the under-construction Cancer Education and Memorial Hospital in Karachi. The event, held at the Taj Park Convention Centre in Surrey, was organized by the local Pakistani community under the leadership of Muneeb Hassan and his dedicated team of volunteers.
The gala drew a large turnout from the community and successfully raised over $380,000.
The fundraising efforts were boosted by the inspiring words by power point presentation of guest speaker Dr. Asif Loha (from Pakistan), Toronto-based guests, and several local community speakers.
Adding star power to the evening, Pakistan’s cricket legend Shoaib Akhtar and famous television artist Sanam Jung made a special stop in Vancouver during their North
American tour to support the cause. Shoaib Akhtar’s signature cricket bats and balls were auctioned to raise additional funds for the hospital project.
The Organizing Committee included: Muneeb Hassan,
Nadeem Zia, Dr. Tahir Rasheed, Aeysha Aizaz, Dr. Natasha Afzal,
Dr. Tehmina Asif, and Imran Qureshi.
Guest speakers included, Irfan Saddique (Radio Host 1200AM), Asim Malik (Tilawat), Lekeyten Antone (First Nations Elder at Kwantlen Polytechnic University), Khalid Usman, and Ovaes Mangalwala (City TV Host).
In his message, Muneeb Hassan expressed heartfelt gratitude:
“We had a great event to help save the lives of poor cancer patients in Pakistan. Our fundraising continues, and those who could not attend can still donate at www.cerfcanada.com/vancouver
. No amount is too small.
All donations are Zakat eligible, and Tax receipts will be issued for Canadians. We’ll also collect Zakat during Ramadan for those wishing to sponsor patients, become founding members, or dedicate rooms.”

The evening reflected the community’s generosity, unity, and commitment to supporting cancer patients in Pakistan through the vision of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centres.
Be in mind this Shaukat Khanum Hospitals chain founder(the third hospital in the Shaukat Khanum chain) a vision and dream of Pakistan’s great cricketer and political leader, Imran Khan.
