In our Islamic Year, we have 12 months and each one has its individual significance. But Rajab is one of the four most sacred months in our Islamic Calendar. The 8th of March Rajab starts this year and the 6th of April, Rajab will end. Rajab is mostly known for hosting the birth of Hazrat Ali ibn Abi Talib on Rajab 13th. Hazrat Ali’s relationship to our Holy Prophet was as his first cousin. He was also the husband of Hazrat Fatima (the youngest daughter of our Holy Prophet) and father of Imam Hussain. An extremely important date during Rajab is Mi ‘raj. The 27th of Rajab symbolizes the Mi ’raj. The Mi ’raj was the day believed that our Holy Prophet ascended into Heaven and is celebrated as a national holiday in some countries. Another important date is the 26th which was the date of Abu Talib ibn Abdul Muttalib’s death. He was Hazrat Ali’s father and our Holy Prophet’s Uncle who raised him after his beloved grandfather passed. Rajab is an important month, therefore, we should respect it the way proper. Once you are educated about things like these it becomes easier to recognize and treat them properly.
