One person is dead and five more are in hospital with serious injuries after a two-vehicle car crash in North Delta Saturday afternoon, according to first responders.
The Delta Police Department said the crash occurred at the intersection of 118th Street and 75A Avenue just after 3 p.m. “Several occupants were taken to hospital with serious injuries and sadly, the driver of one of the vehicles was pronounced deceased at the scene,” police wrote in a statement.
Video from the scene shows one vehicle crushed against a tree and another in the yard of a home, having knocked down a fence. A street sign and fire hydrant appear to have been ripped out in the crash.
B.C. Emergency Health Services told CTV News it sent 10 ambulances to the scene, eight with primary care paramedics and two with advanced care paramedics. Two people were taken to hospital in “serious” condition and three were transported in “serious, but stable” condition, according to BCEHS. Road closures were in place in the area as collision analysts collected evidence.
The DPD asked anyone with information or video to call 604-946-4411
