Today, Miracle’s team visited “Dragon Wak,” an Indian-inspired
Chinese cuisine restaurant. To learn more about its two Surrey locations, we sat down with Mr. Richard Hsieh, the owner and operator. Let’s go through about these Restaurants.
Miracle Media (MM) – Naseer Pirzada:
Thank you for your time, Mr. Richard Hsieh. Could you please share a brief overview of “Dragon Wak”? How did you start your journey in the food industry, and what is your background in this field?
Mr. Richard Hsieh (Rich):
Thank you for the question. , “Dragon Wak” is a modern Indian-Chinese restaurant built around bold flavours, fresh ingredients, and the unique fusion this cuisine is known for. I’ve worked in the food and hospitality industry for more than 20 years, mainly in operations and management. customer service, and business development. My background in managing and growing food-service environments inspired me to create Dragon Wak—a brand that brings authentic Asian tastes together with modern presentation and consistency.
MM: If I recall correctly, “Dragon Wok” previously existed in the Payal Business Centre in Surrey. Is that location still operating under the same name? If not, when and where did you open your first location address in Newton and after that the second location at Scott Road?
Mr. Rich: “Yes, Dragon Wok originally operated at the Payal Business Centre in Surrey, but that location is no longer active. Our first new location opened in Newton at 7320 King George Blvd, Unit #107, and later we expanded to our second location at Scott Road and 94 Avenue Surrey.”
MM: Do you have any business partners? If so, who are they and rest of your cooking service team?
Mr. Rich: “Yes, I have a business partner, Eddie Chiang. Together we manage Dragon Wok, and our cooking and service team consists of skilled chefs and staff who help deliver authentic Indian-Chinese cuisine with consistent quality and great service.”
MM: As you know, the Muslim community has concerns regarding Halal meat and poultry. Miracle Media has a responsibility to verify this for our readers. You showed me the current invoices from your Halal meat and poultry suppliers. What has been the response from the Muslim community regarding Halal compliance?
Is your restaurant 100% Halal, and do you confirm that you do not serve alcohol?
Mr. Rich: “Yes, we serve 100% Halal food at Dragon Wok, and we do not serve alcohol. Since opening, the Muslim community has responded positively to our Halal compliance, and we make every effort to maintain strict standards by sourcing meat and poultry from verified Halal suppliers.”
MM: What are your most popular and mouth-watering menu items that attract customers? How do you respond to customers who frequently recommend and appreciate dishes such as garlic chicken dumplings, kung pao chicken, chicken Hakka noodles, and Manchurian chicken or any other dishes?
Mr. Rich: “Some of our most popular and mouth-watering dishes include Chili Garlic Wings, Spicy Ginger Garlic Beef or Lamb, Masala Fish, Spicy Fried Chicken in Chilli Garlic Sauce, Veggie Manchurian, Szechuan Beef or Lamb, Hakka Chowmein, and Fried Rice. We really appreciate when customers recommend or enjoy dishes like Garlic Chicken Dumplings, Kung Pao Chicken, Chicken Hakka Noodles, and Manchurian Chicken—it’s always rewarding to see our guests excited about the flavors we carefully prepare.”
MM: For food lovers, friendly and efficient service, fresh and flavourful dishes, and generous portions at the reasonable prices are very important. Do you prioritize these aspects in your restaurant?
Mr. Rich: “Yes, absolutely.
At Dragon Wok, we prioritize friendly and efficient service, fresh and flavorful dishes, and generous portions—all at reasonable prices. We want every guest to enjoy a satisfying and memorable dining experience.”
MM – Miracle Media:
Thank you for your time, Mr. Richard. We wish you the very best in your business. I also promise to return with my family to enjoy your food and hospitality again.
