Be Careful What You Wish For

I have read somewhere that when you get what you wish for might make you happy but if you got what God wished for you would be happier. It’s often when you don’t get what you want is when you find a new path and passion for your life. Until then, most of us are unhappy when we don’t get what we wish for, but we don’t consider the implications of our wishes coming true.
Let’s pretend that God has cleared all the backlog of prayers of his devotees.
1. Kids: I wish we had no school and could play all day – Done
2. Women: I want the undivided attention of my husband – Done
3. Husbands: I’m sick of this traffic, I wish I could work from home. – Done
4. Working Moms: I wish I could spend some quality time with my kids and read. – Done
5. Students: I wish I had no exams? – Done
6. Parents: I wish our kids could spend more time with us rather than being busy every day – Done
7. Employee: I’m slogging too much, need a looong break. – Done
8. Employers: I have no life of my own, I wish could relax at home sweet home. – Done
9. Earth: I can’t breathe, I wish I could get a break from all this pollution and chaos… – Done
Often when we dream about our wishes, it’s a way for us to fantasize and escape our reality. Goals and dreams are important and yet you might never accomplish complete satisfaction at the end of the day. Given there is a global pandemic, most of our wishes are to travel, quit our job to have enough time to explore all our hobbies, spend time with our friend and family. But the needs to be a balance and sometimes not getting what you wish for can be a good thing.
Remember:
1.The past is history, the future is a mystery, and only the present is a gift. Focus on what you have and be grateful for the positives that are present in your life.
2. Don’t stop having fun! It is easy to get caught up in our responsibilities and dream of an alternative reality but if you have fun in reality, you materialize some of your goals.
3. Work a little to make it add up. It’s unrealistic to quit your job and devote all your time into a dream. However, if you devote a little time each day, you actively work to make your dreams into a reality.
4. Appreciate the value you have in life. This means enjoying and appreciating the value and good you have in your life. Being grateful for the positives in your life is the key to happiness.
Most importantly, you don’t get what you wish for. You get what you work for. It’s fun to wish and fantasize about future possibilities but if it truly is your dream then you have to work towards it. On the other side, you must be careful of what you wish for, you may receive it. We have to hold the belief that we are exactly where we need to be. If we don’t like it, we have to work towards changing it. Simply wishing for it does not work.
