Muslims all around the world, halfway through Ramadan, are now anticipating the arrival of Eid. A day (or days) of festivities that arrives at the end of the month of fasting. Muslims pray a special prayer on Eid and celebrate by meeting friends and family and giving and receiving gifts. But this time around, Eid isn’t going to be the same. We’re all struggling with the effects of this global pandemic and even though we’re receiving our vaccines, precautions are still in place. So how do we celebrate Eid this year in a safe and responsible way?

Well when it comes to praying Eid prayer, if you plan to attend make sure to wear your masks and stay only as long as necessary. When visiting friends and family, visit those in your bubble in person and maybe make phone calls or video chats to everyone else. And of course, when it comes to gifts how could you say no? Wipe down any gifts with disinfectant and you should be good to go! Ramadan has been different this year and no doubt we’ll be feeling the effects of this pandemic on Eid but we can’t let that get us down. Dress up and keep high spirits, inshallah things will be back to normal before we know it!
