LAHORE: Pakistan cricket team will leave for England on April 23 for a 83-day long hectic tour during which it will play one T20 practice match, a Twenty20 International, four 50-over warm-up matches and five ODIs before participating in the 46-day ICC World Cup from May 30.
Pakistan will take West Indies in their World Cup opener on May 31 at Trent Bridge. Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur spoke to the media at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Tuesday morning upon his return from the United Arab Emirates following the conclusion of the five-ODI series against Australia.
The head coach will now consult the selection committee and discuss the schedule of the player fitness tests, training camp and squad announcement for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, which will be held in England and Wales from May 30 to July 14.
The Pakistan Cricket Board will announce the schedule of activities in due course.
As per the ICC regulations, all participating sides have to submit their 15-player World Cup squads by April 30 but can make changes until May 22 without needing the ICC’s approval. Post May 23, all player replacements will have to be approved by the Event Technical Committee.
