There are worldwide hate spread against Islam and the Muslims after 9/11.It is not in Europe or America but in South Asia Burma, Sri Lanka and India are also targeting Muslims and on daily basis we see incidents occurring on different parts of the world. The questions is how we tackle this situation.
I will say awareness to Muslims and Non-Muslims both. Muslims to understand that what is Islamophobia and what should they do if they targeted and also spread true and clear image of Islam practically, involve themselves to different volunteer works supporting different communities not only Muslim. It will highlight the many everyday positive roles of Muslims in the society. We should use word Islamophobia whenever there is hate crime or speech against Islam and Muslims. To make this term uniform as the term “anti-Semitism” is used in English. We should discuss to non-Muslim friends about the Islamophobia to bring them on board and do not hesitate to ask their support. Distribute Islamic books to non-Muslims so they have understanding of Islam. True and clear picture of Islam and its rules are the best answer for all those who have negative thought about Islam. We can do it by keeping simple and good English books about Islam in Library. On different occasions we should talk about the values of the Islam and discuss examples of the holy prophet.
Interfaith projects can work well to spread awareness and bring all on the same page.
Encourage people to talk against Islmophobia to spread positive message in the society.
We should all make efforts to ensure that all Councillors, MLAs and MPs have better knowledge of Islamophobia. Presentation of common and targeted topic of Islam could be highlighted when they come in Muslim gathering.
Bring it up to the Govt. agencies and make them clear that for a just and peaceful society Islamophobia should be controlled by law.
