On July 14th, someone vandalized multiple electric poles with Islamophobic graffiti, “ ISLAM IS EVIL” throughout Surrey. There were multiple places spanning on King George Blvd from 62 ave (location of Masjid Rahmah) all the way to 74 Ave. This hate crime has shocked the local Muslim community (a hate crime is any criminal offense that is perceived by the victim or any other person, to be motivated by hostility or prejudice based on a person’s race or perceived race; religion, or perceived religion).
Canadian Muslim Media Club Members visited these graffiti sites.

Rehma Masjid’s Imam Sheharyar told the media that they already complained to the RCMP and got the file number, but there has been no update about the RCMP visiting sites. Along with Imam Sheharryar, Mr. Tarik Kiyani, Mr. Naveed Warraich, Mr. Naseer Pirzada, Mr. Khalid Chohan, Ms. Saima Naz, and many neighborhood kids were at the site and strongly condemned this act. Young Kids
helped to raise all “ ISLAM IS EVIL” islamophobic graffiti from the poles.
Muslim community appeals to the law enforcement agency, and hate crime unit to control these types of acts in communities.
