Guildford Islamic Cultural Centre (GICC) has launched Muslim Funeral Aid Services (MFAS)

Guildford Islamic Cultural Centre (GICC) has launched Muslim Funeral Aid Services (MFAS) on July 16. MFAS has been founded to help the Sunni-Muslim community throughout British Columbia with the financial funding of the funeral which is rising exponentially.
The purpose of making this society to established a platform through membership, involving unity networking in Muslim community. In order to share each other’s sorrow at time of need and standby against whatever odds they may have to face in their lives. In case of death of any family member MFAS will bear all the necessary expenditure involved in burial, so the family should not feel helpless due to uncertain circumstances created by financial burden. This great cause will hopefully be transferred to next generation as a SADQA – A- JARIA, In sha Allah.
How it works: The membership in MFAS is based on one-time registration fee. There is no monthly fee involved. Apart from registration, the only other time payment is required is when a MFAS member passes away. When this happens,
MFAS will pay all funeral expenses and later on this cost will be equally divided to all principal members only and their share will be withdrawn after Salatul Janaza information.
A principal member is the head of the family.
His family (wife and unmarried children under 25) are members under the umbrella of the principal member. The registration fee for the principal member is $ 125 and the registration fee for each member under him is $25. For more information,

Opening ceremony:
The program launch event happened at GICC.
GICC president Wasim Malik presented the service and MFAS directors Sikander Beg and Zafar Huda provided details and answered the questions of the attendees. The launch program was also attended by Ulema, who have certified the entire MFAS program as Shariah compliant.
