What is Good Friday?
Good Friday is the day Christ was crucified and died on the cross at Calvary after being sentenced to death by Pontius Pilate.
“Good Friday is part of something else,”
Gabriel Radle, an assistant professor of theology at the University of Notre Dame, previously told USA TODAY. “It’s its own thing, but it’s also part of something bigger.”
What’s the connection between Good Friday and Easter?
Easter marks the day Jesus was resurrected, or emerged from the tomb in which he was laid after being cruxified.
His resurrection three days later, the day we observe as Easter, is said to prove Jesus was the living son of God.
Easter follows Good Friday as the “glorious celebration of the day Jesus was raised from the dead, heralding his victory over sin and death and pointing ahead to a future resurrection for all who are united to him by faith,” according to Christianity.com.
