As we all know that this year we are celebrating the 78th Independence Day of Pakistan and India. Alhamdulillah we are proud that we have been publishing this special edition of 14th August for the last 14 years with the support of our readers, encouragers and well-wishers. On behalf of ourselves and the Miracle team, we wish you all a very happy Independence Day and pray that the the earth may be filled with hope and aspirations, Ameen.
On this auspicious occasion, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our advertisers who have always supported Miracle. We are also very grateful to our writers to continue send us their writings regularly with their insight, intelligence and excellent analytical skills to continue increase the respect of Miracle. We are also very grateful to our readers who enjoy the excellent writings and occasionally inform us of their opinions.
This is a journey of pen and paper in which both the writer and the reader fulfill their own tastes. Being Pakistani Canadians, we have dual responsibility. We are proud to be loyal and active citizens of Canada and to celebrate and represent our rich cultural identity in a positive way. I urge every member of my community to make every effort to participate in the upcoming Canadian elections and understand the importance of their vote bank so that we can send our representatives to Parliament and pave the way for our present and future generations. Ameen.
As a sincere Muslim and Pakistani Canadian, I not only believe in promoting the Canadian economy, but I also strive to ensure that our Pakistani business community thrives. These people are working tirelessly day and night to contribute to Canada’s economic prosperity and ensure that the coming generations are educated, skilled and prepared for a better tomorrow. I urge all of my community to feel proud of themselves as Pakistani Canadians, be proud of their heritage and, as ambassadors of their culture, promote Pakistani products and other Pakistani exports with peace, dignity and pride, thus working hard for the prosperity of both countries. We always look forward to your feedback and suggestions so that we can make Miracle, your very own newspaper, even better.
Accountability Process
Accountability is the process in which those responsible are asked about the performance of the work entrusted to them. Be it a government or an institution, NGO’S or an individual, it is necessary for the success and transparency of everyone that the process of accountability is carried out continuously, it is to be seen whether the responsibility entrusted to an institution or individual has been fulfilled correctly or not.
Where there is no process of accountability, the situation is like our Pakistan. Whenever a ruling party or rulers were asked about their accumulated properties, there was only failure. Our beloved Pakistan was looted by its own people, whether they were educated people or belonged to any class or were they leaders. Despite all the evidence of looting, all those thieves are occupying big positions in the government. The courts, which are subsidiary institutions of accountability, are helpless. Thus, a separate NAB department has also been established for accountability, but it itself needs accountability because it is also involved in the dirty business of corruption.
Be it parliamentarians or judges or the establishment, there is no institution where complete accountability has been done because everyone is same.
If all institutions, including the government, were held accountable regularly, Pakistan’s economy would not be on the verge of this disaster today. Who is responsible for all this failure, everyone is knowingly but silent. Be it the government or big institutions or those working in any institution, everyone does not delay in taking advantage of their own position. Neither the affairs of the government are transparent nor does any institution demonstrate transparency in any kind of accountability. What can we do about this except regret?
Now let’s come to fundraising, the fundraising program is specifically designed to collect money from the public and invest it in some charitable work. This is a step to meet the economic needs for any good cause, so transparency is also required in this and it is important that after fundraising, all those responsible for it present all the accounts to the public, i.e. how much cash, cheques, Visas were received and how many people made promises to give in the future and how many people fulfilled them or not.
This process should be transparent.
And those who give their money in this good cause with all honesty, do they not have the right to ask for an account of where the money they gave was spent?
We have fundraising dinners in BC and most of the associations, NGOs that conduct these fundraisings are quite transparent in their dealings. However, there are also examples where silence is maintained on the question of accounting and such questions are frowned upon and no
