


On October 15, Honourable John Horgan, Premier of British Columbia along with a number of MLAs addressed the South Asian media at a roundtable discussion in person at Taj Banquet Hall in Surrey. While virtual meetings with South Asia Media were carried out during the pandemic, this was the first time in 20 months that an in-person was conducted following COVID-19 restrictions.
The meeting started with Honourable John Horgan describing the progress summary of NDP Provincial Government since being re-elected in majority. He said that a number of important investments have been made by the government for the benefit of the people and explained how BC’s Health ministry is controlling the spread of COVID-19 virus in the province.
After that, Ms. Shruti Prakash Joshi, Director Community and Media Relations started the Question & Answers sessions. At the roundtable meeting, Minister Harry Bains, Minister Bruce Ralston, MLA Jagrup Brar, MLA Aman Singh, MLA Ravi Kahlon, MLA Garry Begg and MLA Rachna Singh were present at the head table with Premier Horgan.
The South Asian media took the opportunity to bring forward many issues faced by British Columbians including:
* Pattullo Bridge Project completion time and current high traffic volume on King George Blvd brought forward by The Miracle
* MSP/ Health issues
* Massey Tunnel Project and its cost matter raised by opposition
* Teachers and workers issues in Public schools
* Land for Coverdale Hospital
* Shortage of labor in all industries
* Toxic Drugs trafficking and Gang Violence
* Public safety and Law enforcement
* Mental Health issues by COVID-19
* Robotic technology used in the construction of housing and commercial industries.
* Natural Gas Pipeline
* Translink Langley SkyTrain Project
* Post-secondary Education Student Loans
* Forestry / Softwood lumber
* Job Market in BC
* Gas Prices in BC
* Standardization of vaccine for acceptance in other countries
* Biggest Land resources for agriculture to housing.
* Trucking and Food industry
* ICBC rebate in Insurance
* Incentive for Taxpayers employers*
* Permanent issues of Temporary workers, their MSP, and child benefits

MLAs answered all raised questions in detail even though not everyone was necessarily satisfied with all answers.
