Fundraising is done for non-profit organizations—NGOs, foundations, associations, etc.—to raise funds and complete their projects with the money given by philanthropists. Such programs are often held in North America and Europe; through them, many project organizers visit third-world countries. They collect this money and go to their respective homelands. This is a very good practice, demonstrating humanity’s interdependence, our feeling of pain for each other, and our work to help humanity. Every human being with conscience and heart will support it. We believe this process should be completely transparent because every day, we hear news that money collected for this purpose is not utilized for that. Allah knows the best. We also have Alhamdulillah fundraising dinners in British Columbia, some of which are for local mosques or local associations, and most are under various foreign and local associations aimed at third-world countries outside of Canada. Alhamdulillah each fundraising dinner tries to reach its target.
Because there is no shortage of sincere and benevolent people in our community, they actively participate in this and help all those projects that are not completed due to lack of money in Pakistan, Bangladesh, or India.
There is fundraising for, but very little is heard and seen for the Indian project because their economy and the people there are trying to eradicate poverty with their help, even though they are also poverty-stricken and are way below the line.
Pakistan ranks second among charity givers in South Asian countries, and alhamdulillah Watan Aziz has no dearth of philanthropists, this is a positive sign.
The question that arises is whether those NGOs who collect funds from overseas citizens locally, do they have any fundraising dinners talking about their projects in these areas and these provinces. Do they talk and discuss with the philanthropists in this country especially the philanthropists of these areas and collect donations?
We all know about the people of our country that this is a nation that is ready to sacrifice its life and wealth in all difficult times. Especially if the people living there participate in the completion of these projects, the future generations will keep their names and work alive. They will have a sense of pride and freedom.
The feeling within them that they will not be able to function unless funds come from outside something not positive. How long will it last? The adults in the country and especially the children should feel that we can be self-sufficient.
For the development of any nation, they must move forward by making the best use of their strengths and resources. This will be their favor and pride to the next generations.
In the last 70 years, the countries that started with us, namely Japan, China, and others. They had fewer resources than us, but they became developed countries on their own. We will not say anything else, you know about that.
On the other hand, due to wars, the conditions in Palestine, Syria, Yemen, and African countries where external and internal wars have created famine in the countries. Innocent martyred people including innocent children are not only martyred but forced to live the worst life. Fundraising is also done for these homeless, helpless people from here, which is their right and our duty. For those who deserve it, we are always ready to stand by them and help them with our sources
We must think about our country that we are once again badly tied under the IMF loans and now the children also have the same idea that if the aid comes from outside then our education will be completed while the country is among the benefactors.
Now the question arises, how serious are we for our country Canada?
It is the homeland of our children and our future generations. Think about the things that are lacking here and the facilities that are not completed due to lack of money and because of this the people living here are worried, what are we doing as a Muslim community or a Pakistani community?
Let’s think of it, have we ever done fundraising for a local hospital, an NGO, or any other project in British Columbia for the betterment of the people here? The Red Cross, Surrey Food Bank, Muslim Food Bank., Blood Banks, and all the organizations here in British Columbia that need our help, have we ever done any fundraising dinner for them?
In politics here, public welfare is a strong link through which relations with the community, people, and government are strengthened.
Here Progressive Intercultural Community Services (PICS) organization was strongly developed by the Punjabi community. And the same community worked together and succeeded in projects like Foster House and Senior Homes. But our situation is that we have not been able to build our community center to sit together, so why not focus on this?
Other communities actively participate in these things and many projects here are a testimony to that. It involved many communities and took the lead in completing them. Because of this, they are recognized locally in public and praised and honored in different ways. They have a positive identity in public, politics, and among government departments.
For example, Surrey Memorial Hospital Emergency is called Guru Nanak Emergency. If you go to local hospitals, many hospitals have names of donors and names of communities written on them Which is a matter of great honor. However, we have also seen the names of members of our community.
We know that all of us as individuals donate to various local institutions; We are talking about one-dimensionality and identity here.
Talking about the well-being of the country we live in and the survival of future generations.
Have any of us thought about having one
fundraising dinner every year to complete our local unfinished projects?
Organize and give the
collected money to the hospital or any other institution that cannot complete its projects due to lack of funds. We all know that health care is very critical here today, especially in hospitals.
There is a lack of facilities for patients, doctors are not available and now there is a long wait for an ambulance. As a Muslim community and especially in terms of the Pakistani community, have we thought about how we can raise a fund?
Have a fundraising dinner to collect money to buy a diagnostic machine in a hospital. Build a ward. Give in the form of an emolument, this is also an ongoing charity.
We enjoy all these conveniences and need them occasionally. It is very necessary and important for our future, our generation.
Don’t we know that portables are being kept for our children due to lack of space in public schools, Muslim schools are not giving admission due to lack of space. We have no foster home, no Senior Home, and no Muslim High school. Is it not important to us, our community, and future generations?
If we don’t think about it, who will?
Think seriously, is it not our duty to do something for our present generation and
future generations?
There is no shortage of
benevolent and sensitive people in our Muslim community. As Muslims and citizens of this country, we also have a responsibility.
Maybe my words hurt someone’s heart, I sincerely apologize. However, it is true.
Go ahead and fundraise for our country Canada where we can use our money in the best way possible to make our mark by helping to complete many incomplete projects, and in providing facilities for our people. The bounty is that we will get recognition and a political impulse in local society.
This country is also ours and we must do welfare work for it.
Is it true?
What do you think?
Just think about it!
