1. Visit a Haunted house
As we move into the fall season, haunted houses are starting to assemble and open up. Some people are natural thrill seekers and others… not so much but either way the rush of adrenaline you feel when you get scared will have you wanting to go back for more either with friends or family.
2. Go to a pumpkin patch
If you’re interested in bringing a pumpkin home, whether to roast the seeds or make a pie or whatever you’re into, there’s so much more variety when picking it yourself rather than from a store. Whether you decide to take one home or not, walking through the patch is a fun way to spend some time with friends or family. Compare the sizes of the pumpkins, slip, and fall in the mud (that one’s from personal experience), and just enjoy the cool weather before the snow arrives.
3. Corn maze
If you’re not directionally challenged (unlike me) then you should definitely try your hand at a corn maze. Time yourself to see how quickly you can get out, or try to spend as much time in the maze as possible. While some mazes are designed to be difficult, others have the goal to be beautiful often designed to make some sort of pattern to attract visits.
4. Apple picking
There are a couple of reasons to go apple picking. The first of them, and probably the most important, is that there’s no better way to ensure that the apples you’re bringing home are wax coating and preservatives free + there’s no exchange between other people’s hands and germs. Additionally, apple farms often have more than just apples. You’re sure to find jams and jellies, maybe petting zoos, and sometimes even carnival rides.
5. Stay in and watch some movies
Not everything has to be done outside, especially here in ‘Raincouver’ when it isn’t always an option. I personally love making a cozy atmosphere inside and watching movies with friends or family. Some of my picks for this season are the following: The Dead Poets Society, Little Women, and Monster House. Some of these are set in autumn while others just have that fall vibe you look for. I would say Dead Poets Society is a good movie for teens to watch with their friends, an inspiring story about a teacher and his students. Little Women, again could be watched with friends or family and is a book adaptation about sisterhood. Monster House is a classic Halloween movie, one I watched almost every year as a kid. Spooky but with an interesting story, I’d recommend to anyone looking for a family movie.
