Yaum-e-Pakistan
(Pakistan Day), celebrated on March 23rd, is a national holiday in Pakistan that commemorates two historic milestones that defined the country’s destiny:
The Lahore Resolution (1940):
On March 23, 1940, the All-India Muslim League passed the historic Lahore Resolution (later known as the Pakistan Resolution) at Minto Park (now Iqbal Park), Lahore, demanding a separate, independent sovereign state for the Muslims of the subcontinent.
The First Constitution (1956):
On March 23, 1956, Pakistan adopted its first constitution, transitioning from a British Dominion to the first Islamic Republic in the world.
Historical Significance
The Foundation: The resolution passed in 1940 solidified the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and provided a clear path toward the creation of Pakistan.
Monument: The Minar-e-Pakistan was built at the site where this landmark resolution was passed.
The Struggle: The day represents the culmination of a long struggle for a separate homeland where Muslims could live according to their faith, culture, and traditions.

March 23 is a national holiday, marked by celebrations that reflect our enduring patriotism. A 31-gun salute in Islamabad and 21-gun salutes in provincial capitals kickstart the day. The grand military parade in Islamabad showcases Pakistan’s defense capabilities, technological advancements, and cultural richness. The President and Prime Minister address the nation, reaffirming our commitment to progress and unity.
National awards and honors are distributed to recognize outstanding contributions to Pakistan. But beyond the festivities, March 23 is a moment of reflection. It reminds us of the sacrifices made by those who fought for our freedom and the responsibility we bear to honor their legacy. Its true essence lies in the historic milestone that set the foundation for the creation of Pakistan: the passage of the Lahore Resolution in 1940.
Eighty-five years ago, on this day, a massive gathering filled the grounds of Minto Park (now Iqbal Park) in Lahore. The atmosphere was electric with passion, hope, and an unshakable belief in a better future. Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah stood before the crowd, his voice firm, his vision clear. Amidst roaring chants of unity, A.K. Fazlul Huq, premier of Bengal, presented a groundbreaking resolution that later known as the Lahore Resolution. It boldly called for separate, autonomous states for Muslims in British India, where they could live according to their values, culture, and faith.
Did you know that the word “Pakistan” was never mentioned in the resolution. Yet, the seed had been planted. It was this great moment that transformed a vision into a movement, ultimately leading to the creation of Pakistan in August of 1947. Decades later, the towering Minar-e-Pakistan stands tall at this historic site today.
At Forest Town, we believe that March 23 is not just about looking back; it is about looking forward. Just as the Lahore Resolution laid the foundation for an independent Pakistan, we are laying the foundation for a sustainable, eco-friendly future. As Pakistan marches toward a new era, we are committed to green infrastructure, sustainable solutions, and modern, innovative living. The same values that built this nation are the values that drive us today. This March 23, let’s pledge to not only cherish our past but to actively shape a brighter, greener, and stronger Pakistan. Because the true spirit of Pakistan Day lies in progress, , and our strong belief in our future. Pakistan Zindabad!
