It was a great honor and a historic moment for Pakistani Canadians to welcome Honourable David Eby, Premier of British Columbia. We are humbled and have high regards for the Premier who graced our event by visiting the community on the auspicious Eid celebration. The other leaders and professionals who attended the event were Mr. Janbaz Khan, Councillor General for Pakistan, Hon. Raj Chouhan, Speaker of Legislative Assembly, Hon. Harry Bains – Minister of Labor, Hon. Bruce Ralston – Minister of Forests, Hon. Rachna Singh – Minister of Education and Child Care, Hon. Jagrup Brar, Minister of Trade, MLA Garry Begg – Chief Whip of BC Legislative Assembly, MLA Aman Singh. Richmond- Queensborough, Mrs. Jinni Sims MLA Surrey-Panorama and City Councillors Linda Annis, Mike Bose, and Councillor Ahmad Yousuf from Maple Ridge.
Among the special invitees we had, were Dr. Ali Mihirig, Engineer Bearinger Sidhu, Engineer Khalid Zaka, Mr. Kulwant Dhesi, Pakistani Dr. Rifat Nagra, Dr. Saleem Nagra, Dr. Muneeb u Rehman, Engineers, and Professionals and fellow Presidents of community associations.
The purpose of the event is to provide families with an opportunity to meet each other on a single occasion. Also, during the event, they had a chance to observe and enjoy shared values, but also the dress, music, and socialization and as has become customary – used the opportunity to meet and greet our social and political leaders. The aim of the activity was to help inspire young people, foster a strong community environment, and develop an inclusive community culture. In essence. We think It is important to motivate community members to do their level best effort to achieve their goals. Therefore we acknowledge individuals’ personal achievements by awarding them recognition. Our award-winning nominees have made tremendous efforts in their life, sometimes with no fanfare or recognition, and have persevered through their hard work and dedication. We must recognize them so others will see them in that light as well. I am sure these individuals will serve as inspiration for others in years to come.
A special thanks to our NRC members – Engr. Khalid Zaka and Mr. Salim Notary for their efforts in finalizing nominees through their professional and honest evaluation.
At the end of the festival, entertainment was a part of the program. Some exciting live music entertainment was presented by a special performer NavinJaan which was thoroughly enjoyed by guests.
