Surrey, August 14 – To mark the 78th Independence Day of Pakistan, a vibrant car rally was held in Surrey, bringing together members of the local Pakistani community in a spirited celebration of national pride and unity.
The rally, organized by longtime community leader Amin Khan and his dedicated team of volunteers, featured a convoy of approximately 25 vehicles adorned with Pakistani flags and patriotic slogans.
The procession began at Holland Park and made its way to Amin Khan’s residence, located near Surrey Jameh Masjid on 72nd Avenue.
At the final stop, community members gathered for speeches, refreshments, and a celebratory cake-cutting ceremony. Special guest MLA Amna Sha joined the celebration, offering heartfelt remarks and warm wishes for the people of Pakistan. She emphasized the importance of cultural unity and praised the Pakistani community for its contributions to Surrey’s multicultural landscape.

Many attendees shared their reflections on Pakistan’s progress and expressed hopes for continued peace, prosperity, and development in the years ahead.
The cake-cutting ceremony was held separately in both the men’s and women’s sections, respecting community traditions. Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a spread of delicious traditional food, adding warmth and hospitality to the day’s patriotic spirit.
The event served as a meaningful reminder of the enduring connection between the diaspora and their homeland, and the power of community to keep traditions alive—even far from home.
