S. Gurcharan Singh Gill “Mansoor” was born on May 25, 1925 in Kot Goind Key, now in Pakistan. He was the
middle child of his family. Although it has farming background, the Gill family has
always had very well educated members.
His father was transferred from Pakistan
before 1947.
After college he became a teacher of Physical Education and later became a head master of a high school where he served till his
retirement in 1985.
He got married in 1955 and had two daughters and one son who is also a poet like his father. “Mansoor Sahab” came to Canada in 1990 and lived here till his death on
November 19th, 2023 at the age of 98 years.
Mr. Gill had always had interest in sports,
fitness, music and art. His love for Urdu was remarkable. His penmanship was amazing and he scripted all his poetry books with his own amazingly beautiful handwriting.
His positive attitude and his pleasant
demeanour made him a magnetic personality. Although he was not very religious, his love for humanity was unquestionably strong. Throughout his life he was always ready and willing to help his students,
his neighbours and literary organizations.
He left behind his wife, his three children, four grandchildren and four great
grandchildren. Apart from that he left many people who will truly miss him.
He lived a long and healthy life and he will be remembered for a long time.
