On Nov 24, Iqra Islamic School invited its Iqra family of students, parents, alumni and other supporters to raise funds for the high school project, an adjacent property at 96A Ave x 168 St, in Fleetwood, Surrey.
The fundraising dinner was held at Bombay Banquet Hall in Surrey. Iqra is an
elementary & junior high School (accredited by the Ministry of Education; BC) and serves more than 460 students.
Opening remarks were made by MC Tavia Azad & Saadiya Daya. The program began with recitation of Holy Quran by Maaz Ahmad and translation by Omar Imrani. Following the recitation, Arsala Rasool and Abida Turan conducted the student presentation program filling it with humor at times. Performance by students from many grades reflected a very high standard of Arabic and Islamic program at the school. Presentation included :

Ms. Randa El-Khatib the Principal of the school, welcomed all the attendees and instead of a traditional progress update, MLA Bruce Ralston and MPs Ken Hardy were also invited on the stage and they admired the school’s efforts and contributions to the community. Dr. Ali Mihirig(President) updated everyone about the High school project and asked everyone to continue their support. Chief guest Dr. Jamal Badawi talked about building a strong community starting with building an individual and a family. The keynote speaker was Sheykh Shehab Ahmad from (Ontario), a prominent scholar and international speaker. Sheykh Shehab delivered a beautiful speech in the light of Quran and Sunnah and encouraged all the attendees to open their hearts and donate generously for this noble educational cause.
The fundraiser – which hosted approximately 500 guests – exceeded expectations with the successfully collection of over $130,000 dollars. This tremendous success would not have been possible without the help of Allah (swt), and the support of the broader Muslim community. The Miracle would like to congratulate the IQRA Islamic School management for its 20 years completion with great success in Muslim Community.
