On February 1, the Guildford Islamic Cultural Centre (GICC) held its very well-attended annual fundraiser. The event reflected strong community support from many cultural groups across #OurSurrey, celebrating our cultural and religious diversity in a spirit of harmony that makes us all stronger.
Several dignitaries were in attendance, including Lina Annis (Surrey First).
Mr. Bilal Cheema shared that he recently had the honour of receiving an award from the Guildford Islamic Cultural Centre for his community contributions. While unexpected, the recognition was deeply appreciated.
A highlight of the evening was meeting Imam Khalid Latif—an esteemed scholar and NYU professor—whose words left a lasting impression. Imam Latif’s message about showing up for our communities and serving with purpose was a powerful reminder of why community work truly matters.
Thank you to GICC for the recognition and for the incredible work you continue to do in bringing the community together.
