On October 19, the Shaukat Khanum Research Foundation BC chapter organized a fundraising gala dinner for Cancer Education Memorial Cancer Hospital Karachi by the local Pakistani community under the leadership of Muneeb Hassan and his dedicated volunteers’ team at the Taj Park Convention Center, Surrey. A large number of community members attended this fundraising for a great cause, despite heavy thunderstorms and on BC Provincial election day. More than $200,000 has been raised through the efforts of guest speaker Dr. Asif Loha (Pakistan) and the Toront’s guests with local community activists. The auction of Imran Khan’s signature Cricket Bats and Balls helped to generate more funds. In the end, a live performance by Pakistan re-nouned singer Ali Azmat entertained the community till midnight.
An Appeal for more funds is required.
75% of the patients who come to Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital in Pakistan are too poor to meet their basic daily needs, which is why, with your help, we provide them with free treatment throughout the year. Our founder is unable to appeal for our hospitals this year, but in this absence, we hope you will continue supporting our patients and show that we still stand
together in the fight against cancer.
