At least six people have been killed and eight wounded in Israeli air strikes targeting central Beirut overnight. A further 46 people were killed and 85 injured in Israeli attacks across Lebanon in the previous 24 hours, Lebanon’s Health Ministry said.
Hezbollah fighters and Israeli troops are engaged in heavy fighting in southern Lebanon where Israel confirmed that at least eight of its soldiers have been killed in close combat so far.
Israel intensified attacks on Gaza, killing dozens of people in separate strikes on shelters and schools, including an orphanage.
In Gaza, at least 41,689 people have been killed and 96,625 injured in Israeli attacks since October 2023. In Israel, at least 1,139 people were killed in the Hamas-led attacks on October 7 and more than 200 people were taken captive.

I am currently in the centre of Beirut and we’ve been hearing explosions on almost an hourly basis.The loudest and biggest one happened at around 20 past midnight local time and it came from an area called Bashoura which is only about a kilometre south of where I’m standing now.
