Casting vote!

These last few days were when we were supposed to vote. We were reminded to vote, the importance of our vote, to not vote, and whom to vote. Why is it hard: “whom to vote for?” It is hard because we want to make the right choice. By the time, we are reading this, results will be already declared, the party who wins, the people who voted for them will celebrate a victory, and everyone has a lot to say about politics and the parties they like or dislike.
Every family should discuss this and come with a decision on their values, important things for them and then vote. It is not that, *whatever* the father says should be done as a tyrannical obligation but rather at times, other family members know what is the best thing to do. Some houses may have the young being wiser or more knowledgeable and vice-versa.
Creating the Atmosphere
When children do something they like or hide their lives from the elders, when they avoid communication or confrontation, the elders complain of disobedience or becoming like strangers to us as they may live in the house more like guests. When the child is not allowed to say or express their likes and dislikes, or opinions freely without being criticized, they feel they are like outsiders in the family, they are just either informed or ordered to do something, they start keeping the distance. When all the family members are given due respect they also learn to give respect in return.
In this era of modern technology, our children are much open-minded and aware of what is happening in and out, around them. They are more clear about what do they expect and want from life and people in their life. They are smarter and fearless than the earlier generations. They have to face more fierce competition in life. The parents will have to find a way to teach children old values and at the same time, understand new values. Otherwise, the generations will become distant from each other. We must have flexibility in small matters and understanding towards each other.
The Leader
When we select the leader, we seek for certain good qualities in our leader. It is our duty as a parent to cultivate good and sound qualities in our children so that in future if they happen to be the leader we are voting today. Whichever we think right according to our own judgment we have come so far with some good qualities, some good strength of character and ability and personality. Let us ourselves first try to be worthy citizens, good human beings and make our future candidates who are our children, a better person, a good and hard-working human being, knowledgeable and capable.
