
On Aug 6th, Mr. Bilal Cheema, Community activist called the community to join a forum attended by Liberal party members from the city of Surrey, including MP Sukh Dhaliwal for Surrey-Newton, MP Ken Hardie for Fleetwood—Port Kells , and MP Randeep Sarai Surrey-Centre. Th event was organized as a non-partisan event and all attendes were asked to come ready with their “critical caps” and prepared to hold local politicians accountable.
Mr. Cheema was the moderator and he introduced all Member of parliaments and purpose of gathering before the Federal election October 2019. Br Musa Ismail also made a speech and thanked everyone for coming and particpating. In Q & a session, many questions were raised about the hot issue of the Kashmir Valley and India, tensions at India-Pakistan border and the role Canada should play in this situation. The community also raised local issues such as, Immigration, Taxes, Homeless people grant, Gang Violence in Surrey, Child Tax, Education Grant, Mental Health, and other social problems. Many community members were present there.
Community members were encouraged to participate in the upcoming federal election by joining any political party that aligns with their ideals, participate in events, help financially as much as one can, and/or volunteer in campaign offices. Make your voices heard.
