Established in 2022, the International Refugees Support Foundation (IRSF) has been dedicated to aiding newly arrived refugees by providing essential items such as food, groceries, clothing, blankets, furniture, and other household supplies to address their immediate needs. With a significant influx of refugees from various regions, IRSF endeavors to offer culturally appropriate assistance, including clothing tailored to individual backgrounds. IRSF continued its annual Ramadan Food Program in 2025, providing essential groceries to refugee families through a combination of mass distributions and direct deliveries. With the support of local masajids, including Guildford Islamic Cultural Center, Masjid Ul Huda, and North Delta Islamic Center, which generously provided space for some distribution events, along with a dedicated team of volunteers delivering food packages, the initiative successfully helped on average over 100 refugees per week.
On one occasion, IRSF distributed food packages benefitting over 196 refugees, with each package containing essential items such as flour, oil, sugar, dates, and other groceries, such as fresh fruits and vegetables. Rain or shine, IRSF was there to help, ensuring that families had the necessities to observe Ramadan with dignity. In addition to food assistance, the organization also responded to requests for Holy Qur’ans and prayer rugs. Yet, the overall demand remained high, underscoring the widespread food insecurity affecting many in the community.
While IRSF continues to do its best to accommodate the growing needs of refugee families, the reality is that food insecurity remains a pressing issue in the community. The demand for assistance far exceeds available resources, and the need continues to grow. Despite these challenges, IRSF remains committed to supporting as many families as possible. IRSF relies on the generosity of donors and the dedication of volunteers to continue this vital work. To sustain and expand these efforts, ongoing financial support from the community is critically needed to assist even more families in need,
