On April 14, the Al-Isra and Al-Meraj conference was organised by Islamic Association of Western Canada in association with Jamia Masjid Aulia Allah in Surrey. The program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Local Naat Khawans including Ahmed Raza Ahmed, Rayan Ahmed, Br, Sheryar, Br, Muzamil Ahmed and Mohammad Iqbal presented beautiful Naats in the honour of Holy Prophet (saw).
Imam and Khateeb of Jamia Masjid Aulia Allah, Alhaaj Maulana Alama Abdul Latif Naumani spoke about the importance of Meraj with Surah I
sra’a 17.1” Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al- Aqsa.”
He said that Prophet Muhammad(pbuh), ascended to the seven heavens. His ascension took place from Jerusalem. This miraculous night journey is one of the most important events in Islamic history because it not only established daily prayer in the Muslim way of life, but also tested the Faith of Muhammad’s companions. Our Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) cared about His “Umatti” everywhere. He also told everyone about the conevrsation of Prophet Muhammad (S.W.) with Prophet Musa (a.s) conversation to reduce from 50 to 5 times prayer a Day and said that 35 Hadiths exist about incident of Miraj.
The main prominent speaker of the event Imam Syed Badiuddin Soharwardy who spoke about the Isra’ and Meraj in detail. He recited Sura Bini Israel verses and said that 5 pillars of Islam are our strong belief and faith. The Isra’ and Meraj is a practical demonstration by Allah (swt) for us Which is started by “Amant tu Billah”, No one can share in attribute of Allah(swt).
Other Prophets like Ibrahim (A.S) and Musa (A.S) and others they wanted to see Allah (swt) but couldn’t. At Meraj, Allah (swt) sent Angel Jibril to bring Mohammad(saw) Himself. The verse starts in Surah Isra’a 17.1 by “Subhan”. In our daily Duaa we say “O my Allah”, but here Allah used Abdahi “Exalted is He who took His Servant” So, Allah (saw) can do whatever HE wants.
The Isra’ and Meraj of Holy Prophet (saw) took place in three parts, each corresponding to the tri-dimension persona of Holy Prophet (saw). The first part of the journey was from Masjid al-Haram to Masjid al-Aqsa as is mentioned in the first verse of Surah Bani Isra`il. This part of the Journey was to be known as the Isra. The second part of the journey, which is known as the Meraj, was from Masjid al-Aqsa to Sidrat al-Muntaha. The last and final part of the journey was from Sidrat al-Muntaha to Qaba Qawsain; this part of the journey is called I`raj. Syed Soharwardy also spoke about Shirk at the occassion.
At the end, he invited everyone for Q &A session and answered many questions. At the end, Maulana Naumani made a heartfelt Dua for all those who attended the program and offered special prayers for the entire Muslim Ummah. Program was concluded with recitation of Salam to our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SA)
