

In a powerful display of community solidarity, over 150 members gathered at Taste of Lahore for a recent town hall meeting, hosted by Islamic Relief. The event not only celebrated cultural diversity but also shed light on impactful relief efforts, both globally and within British Columbia.
Islamic Relief representatives passionately shared their ongoing efforts in Palestine, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to providing essential aid and support to those affected by conflict. The town hall also featured updates on recent natural disasters, including the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, as well as floods in Morocco and Libya. The town hall also served as a platform to highlight Islamic Relief’s local initiatives in BC, showcasing the organization’s multifaceted approach to community engagement.
One of the notable local efforts discussed was the back-to-school campaign, which saw the distribution of over 200 backpacks to students in the Surrey School District. Attendees learned about the organization’s commitment to education and empowering youth within the community.
Additionally, Islamic Relief outlined their biweekly warm meals initiative in the Downtown Eastside, providing essential sustenance to those facing homelessness and food insecurity. The organization’s Winter Warmth Campaign, spanning five regions, was also highlighted, showcasing the distribution of winter kits filled with hygiene and winter items to individuals in need.
