Party leaders allege that the government has failed on both foreign policy and narrative management; raise questions on India’s diplomatic standing post-Pahalgam attack .
The Congress on Tuesday (May 27, 2025) launched a sharp critique of the Narendra Modi-led government, and claimed that Opposition MPs, who are part of multi-party delegations abroad, are conveying India’s position on terrorism more effectively than their counterparts in the ruling establishment. Addressing a press conference, Congress media and publicity department head Pawan Khera said, “This government is being run, inspired and operated by trolls.” He claimed that key policy communication had been effectively “outsourced” to online supporters, diminishing the credibility of the government’s diplomatic stance. Taking aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mr. Khera said, “The Prime Minister is behaving like a troll and delivering filmi dialogues like Prem Chopra and Paresh Rawal, which do not behoove the Prime Minister’s post.”
Referring to the Prime Minister’s recent campaign rhetoric, he added, “The way he recited dialogues… ‘Sindoor is flowing through my veins’ and what not, ‘goli khao, roti khao’. Is this how the Prime Minister of a country behaves?” Mr. Khera pointed to the aftermath of the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam to contrast the conduct of the Opposition with that of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). “Opposition members very effectively, even much more than the government, are putting forward the interests of India… This difference is very important to draw lessons for posterity,” he said…Source:thehindu.com
