October’s Islamic History Month Canada Celebrates in Masjid As Slaam

      In 2007, the Parliament of Canada enacted October as ISLAMIC HISTORY MONTH with the objective to honour Muslim –Canadian community and recognize their valuable contribution in shaping and building our mother land – Canada. this event organised after two years due to Covid-19.
On October 29th to celebrate, over 300 plus audience from various cultures, faith groups, City Councilors and officials gathered to mark this historic occasion.
Imam and Khatib Yahya Momla recited the few verses of Holy Quran and talked about Islamic history month. Mr. Bob Rahiman, chairperson, Mr. Yasin Taqi Accountant, Mr. Aspha Dada, Lawyer, Sr, Hazra Ismail, education director of Masjid Al-Salaam also addressed at this occasion.
Imam Zijad Delic (from Ottawa) was the invited speaker for the main event, and he does not require any introduction. In his keynote, the Imam reminded us to strive to create an environment of peace by being kind to our parents, spouses, children along with neighbors and community as a whole. Dr. Delic stressed on the importance of displaying mercy (Rahma) as Canadian Muslims and taken initiatives to become more socially involved as Muslims by becoming engaged in education, law, politics to strengthen the Muslim and Canadian community. Dr. Delic noted that Canadian are past integration and are now contributing to the Canadian culture and therefore need to exhibit and strengthen their character by being merciful in their private and public relationships.
A healthy and generous dinner was served at the end of the talk.
