BC Green Policy
Party Leader: Sonia Furstenau
Most British Columbians want to enjoy healthy, safe lives and a good standard of living, surrounded by the rich, natural beauty of our province. We want to give our children and grandchildren the same opportunity. We want a future we can believe in. We want to sustain our environment, our economy, and our communities.
BC Green Policy is a compilation of the policies that BC Green Party members believe will achieve those goals. They spring from our core principles and define who we are and how we are different from other parties.
Freedom Party of BC
Party Leader: Amrit Birring
Our young children will not be manipulated into consenting for sex change surgeries and puberty blockers.
BC Schools will not be used for child abuse via Trojan Horse of SOGI 123 and Critical Race Theory.
There are no exams in K-12 schooling system because it may hurt kids’ feelings if they do poorly. This is intentional to set them up for failure.
Make our K-12 schools competitive with international academic levels, so that every child has confidence and is motivated to pursue post-secondary education.
We will not put guilt in our children by forcing them to recite every morning that they live on unceded and stolen land. It does not help anyone.

Haroon Ghaffar: BC NDP Candidate for Surrey South Haroon Ghaffar, a longtime resident of Surrey, is the BC NDP candidate for Surrey South in the upcoming
provincial elections.
Since moving to the city in 2012 with his wife and two sons, Haroon has come to call this community home.
Haroon is deeply connected to the community as he has experienced first hand the challenges that local families face.
His career as a journalist, and later as a
Public Service employee, has been defined by his commitment to understanding people’s stories, engaging with their experiences, and working toward solutions. This drive to uplift his community and ensure its needs are met inspired Haroon to run as an NDP candidate. He believes that the party’s focus on building stronger, more inclusive communities through practical, people-centered policies is exactly what Surrey South needs.
Haroon chose to run with the BC NDP because he shares their vision for an equitable and inclusive British Columbia. He is particularly motivated by the NDP’s dedication to addressing Surrey’s most pressing challenges, especially in healthcare. Haroon recognizes the progress made under the BC NDP, such as increased investment in healthcare professionals and the commitment to build a new Surrey hospital. These improvements are critical for a growing city, and Haroon is determined to see this work continue.
He warns that under John Rustad’s policies, which propose a $4.1 billion healthcare cut,
Surrey residents could face longer wait times, fewer healthcare professionals, and cancelled surgeries. This would be a step backward for a community that cannot afford to compromise on healthcare access.
Public transit is another key focus of Haroon platform. Passionate about improving transit accessibility in Surrey South, he supports expanding options and increasing the
frequency of services to help residents rely less on personal vehicles. He envisions a
future where public transit is affordable and environmentally sustainable, helping to
reduce congestion while supporting the needs of a growing community.
Haroon is also deeply committed to youth development through sports. He believes that sports can provide young people with positive pathways and opportunities, helping them stay engaged and away from negative influences like gangs. Haroon plans to champion initiatives that make sports more accessible to all youth, regardless of their financial background, by advocating for publicly funded training programs and fostering partnerships to secure sponsorships.
Haroon’s candidacy is built on the belief that a thriving community needs strong public services, meaningful opportunities for young people, and leadership that listens.
He looks forward to working closely with the residents of Surrey South to build a better, more connected future.
