A few months ago, the threats of US President Donald Trump and the resignation of Prime Minister
Justin Trudeau have completely shaken Canadian politics.
According to public opinion, former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s party is in a tough competition with the opposition Conservatives and its leader Pierre Poilievre. Justin Trudeau went from being very popular to unpopular in Canada, the reason for which was some wrong steps and undesirable decisions of Trudeau. Economic downturn in Canada, increasing trend of recession, controversial immigration policies were strong objections from the public, i.e. taxpayers to the settlement of refugees in the country. Apart from this, there were some other reasons due to which a distance had been created between the public and the Liberal Party.
After Justin Trudeau’s resignation, Mark Carney won the Liberal party leader’s election and thus took the oath of office as Prime Minister on March 14. Only nine days after the oath of office, on March 23, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced an early general election in Canada.
Mark Carney, who has also been the former governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England, had high hopes for economic recovery, but due to his weak mandate, he found himself helpless in confronting the American currents and decided to run for a strong mandate.
The elections are taking place at a time when Canada’s tensions with the United States and India, which are no longer hidden, are becoming critical and the issue of immigration has also become serious. While the Conservative Party wants to minimize the door open to immigrants in comparison to them, also wants friendly relations with the United States. While the Liberal Party supports strong
defense and an independent domestic’s policy.
Due to US President Trump’s trade sanctions against Canada and threats of annexation, the country needed a strong mandate to effectively confront these challenges. In the Canadian General election, the two major parties, the Liberal Party and the Conservative Party, are expected to compete. Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre, who is an experienced politician, will be the main opponent of the ruling party in the elections. According to recent surveys, sometimes the graph of the Liberal Party and sometimes of the Conservative party is seen going up and down.
After the announcement of the elections on April 28, election activities are now visible in the streets, in which you must have seen signboards in front of houses and billboards of candidates on major roads. Now it is your choice whether you support the party that stands with your interests and national interests.
Another big tragedy of the Muslim community is that we are unable to field candidates at the exact time of the elections. While the community is thinking all year that some candidate from the community will come in the elections and we will also be able to raise our voice in the parliament, but this does not happen, why is this?
Is it because we are not united as a community and are divided into parts and still believe in doing closed-door politics by inviting election candidates in our respective constituencies? Why not politicians from both parties are invited at a big place and have a debate which we call a grand debate. Many of our kind-hearted people will remember that Miracle Team held three memorable grand debates at its forum until the 2015 elections, in which the public participated enthusiastically and appreciated it very much. As far as the media is concerned, all the people associated with the media are doing their part and during the interview with these candidates, they discuss and ask questions about the local problems of the people. For example, they ask about the party and its measures on issues like education and health policies, relations with America and the burning issue of Gaza in the Muslim community. Why is taxpayers’ money being thrown into wars, the way the Canadian government helped in the Ukraine war and is still doing it? However, in the case of Gaza, the Canadian government could not show the enthusiasm and passion that the Palestinians deserve and so far about 65 thousand people have been martyred. Since October 7, 2023, there has been a ceasefire repeatedly, which is constantly violated by Israel and innocent children and women are being subjected to cruelty and abuse. But the world is silent, even the Muslim Ummah and their leaders are silent. Millions of people in the neighbors of the richest Muslim countries in the world are suffering from hunger, oppression and helplessness, but they have reached the peak of their indifference. Communities in every country, in every city, are coming together to help the oppressed and helpless in Gaza and other areas but they do not have enough power to make policies and establish peace. This is the job of the heads and leaders of countries to work on their foreign policies to help those who are constantly struggle for existence. The greatest regret is for the Muslim Ummah, whose rulers and leaders are among the richest states and people in the world. If they only spent their Zakat on Palestine and the poor oppressed Muslims, they would not even need to seek help from anywhere else. I do not know what kind of indifference Muslim leaders have .
May Allah have mercy on all of us and grant us the ability to help the oppressed and raise our voices in their favor. Ameen.
We hope that you will definitely discuss national issues and the issues of Palestine with the candidate in your area. You should get information on issues like education and health policies of their party and development off your Constitution. Cast vote as it is trust for this and future generations, so use it wisely and vote.
As you may know, there is also the facility of advance voting. from April 19 to 21 from 9.00 to 9 pm. On April 28, at the election day, you have the facility to vote from morning to evening from 7 am to 7 pm. You can also take two hours off from your jobs and cast your vote. We request you to vote and keep your importance in mind.
Unfortunately, the interest of the Muslim community in politics and the speed of voting is not visible, which our country Canada needs. Until we are politically stable, our voice will not be heard in Parliament. Without having candidates from our own community, how will our problems reach Parliament?
Alhamdulillah, a Pakistani candidate, Zeeshan Khan, who has been given a party ticket by the Federal Liberal Party from the city of Chilliwack, is participating in the election as a candidate. Now I pray to Allah that he may succeed and whoever wants to help them should definitely try.
We should encourage and motivate ourselves and our children to work voluntarily in the offices of political candidates. In this way, the coming generation will know the importance of politics and the power of the vote. Insha Allah, in the coming time, they can prove to be the best candidates with political understanding.
In our capacity, we also request our women to participate in the elections actively and all the elders of the house to use their votes properly and do good for the coming generations. To avoid the rush, you can cast your vote in advance voting, definitely take advantage of it. Your vote is a trust, it is your duty to use it properly, whichever candidate you vote for, think carefully and do not neglect to choose the right candidate.
After the election results, it will be known how close the Liberal Party or the Conservative Party wins. The competition is thorny. Let’s we have a stronger government, so it will be independent to make decisions.
We hope that whichever party comes with a good mandate so that it will be easy for it to form the government and make decisions. The biggest problem today is the Tariff that our neighboring country, the United States, has imposed all over the world. Now the economic war is going on, due to which many businesses are closing and people are becoming unemployed due to the closure of businesses. Inflation has increased, the number of immigrants has also decreased. Health problems, education problems, tax problems, carbon tax and hundreds of other problems are currently in Canada that are waiting for a solution. We will see how the next government deals with it.
You will definitely think about the importance of your vote.
Long live Canada!
