As the Muslim community worldwide celebrates Eid al-Fitr, the team at Gateway Assisted Living in Surrey, BC would like to extend our warmest wishes and congratulations to all our Muslim friends and neighbors. We hope that this special occasion brings joy, blessings, and happiness to you and your loved ones.
At Gateway Assisted Living, we understand the importance of community, family, and tradition. That is why we are committed to providing a safe, caring, and inclusive environment for seniors who require assistance with activities of daily living. Our assisted living seniors community is designed to provide a homely and comfortable environment where seniors can maintain their
independence, receive quality care and support, and engage in activities and services they enjoy. We have a mix of one bedroom and studio suites available at the home.
Gateway Assisted Living operates 60 government subsidized assisted living beds and is located at 13787 100 Avenue, Surrey, BC. It is minutes away from the King George Skytrain Station, Surrey Memorial Hospital, Central City Mall, Holland Park and Masjid Al Noor. Its location, in the heart of Surrey’s City Centre, allows Gateway to be a suitable home for Seniors to continue living independently, giving them access to nearby resources for daily social activities.
We are excited to announce that we have recently introduced services that are designed to meet the unique needs and preferences of our Muslim residents. Our team of dedicated and experienced professionals is committed to providing compassionate and culturally-sensitive care that respects the traditions and customs of the Muslim community.
We understand that the Muslim community has unique needs when it comes to food, prayer, and social activities, and we are committed to providing personalized care that meets these needs. Our team will provide Halal food options that are prepared in accordance with Islamic dietary laws. We also provide prayer rooms and spaces where residents can perform their daily prayers and engage in religious activities.
At Gateway Assisted Living, we know that seniors require personalized care that meets their individual needs and preferences. That is why we offer a range of services that are designed to enhance the physical, emotional, and social well-being of our residents. Our services include assistance with personal care and medication management, social activities and outings, and access healthcare services. Currently, Fraser Health has been running a pilot project where
Gateway Assisted Living is assigned an in-house doctor accessible to all residents who are unable find a doctor in the community. This project has been a success where residents are able to make appointments directly with the doctor and independently manage their medical needs and concerns from the comfort of their home.
Our community is designed to provide a safe and comfortable environment where residents can age with dignity and respect. We understand that transitioning to assisted living can be challenging for seniors and their families, and we are committed to providing support and guidance throughout the process.
Our beds are subsidized through the Fraser Health Authority and are accessed by contacting the Home Health Service Line at 1-855-412-2121
(7 days a week, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) to request an assessment. Once a senior is assessed to be eligible for subsidized care, they will be given the opportunity to rank their top three subsidized residences as their preferred option for placement. If Gateway
Assisted Living is selected as the top choice, the senior will be added to our placement list and we will be able to select them for admission from there. Gateway Assisted Living does not itself get to choose who is addmitted to the site, a person must qualify and be pre-approved by Fraser Health
Authority first and then added to our list based on a persons preference. We hope the Muslim Community supports us by selecting this residence for placement and/or transfer from another subsidized location.
As we celebrate Eid al-Fitr, we invite you to learn more about the services available at Gateway Assisted Living. Our team is here to answer any questions you may have and to provide guidance and support as you navigate the aging process. We are proud to be a part of this vibrant and diverse community, respecting and engaging with cognitive seniors who require supportive care with physical and functional health challenges.
