(Calgary) The founder of the Islamic Supreme Council of Canada and the Muslims Against Terrorism, Imam Syed Soharwardy issued the following statement today.
I was shocked and very disappointed by Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau and his cabinet’s racist behaviour today in the Canadian Parliament by not supporting the Conservative motion on the GENOCIDE of Uighur minority in China. Is supporting human rights of Uighur Muslims against the Canadian values? Why human rights of specific people supersede over the human rights of helpless oppressed persecuted people? Isn’t China committing crimes against humanity by killing and persecuting Uighur Muslims? Why on this noble and very much needed motion in the Canadian Parliament Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had to be partisan?
In the past I have opposed the Conservative Party’s position on many other issues. But I sincerely thank the Conservative Party of Canada, its leader, honourable Erin O’Tool and the two MPs, Michael Chong and Garnett Genuis for standing up for the human rights of all people.
I pray for the safety and speedy return to Canada of Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor. And I also pray for the safety and wellbeing of Uighur Muslims.
