Surrey, BC – The Surrey Policing Transition Report is completed and has been delivered to the provincial government for review and approval.
“The completion of the Policing Transition Report is a landmark moment for the City of Surrey as it marks an important step in bringing local accountability to the citizens of Surrey,” said Mayor Doug McCallum. “The creation of a Surrey Police Department was one of two major initiatives unanimously passed by Council on the night we were sworn in and, this morning, Council has had the opportunity to view the full report. I want to thank Surrey City staff, the City of Vancouver and the Vancouver Police Department for their work on the transition document. I am confident that our plan fully details how we will successfully transition to a city police department and I look forward to hearing back from the Solicitor General. With the report now in the hands of the provincial government we are moving ahead with our public engagement sessions. I urge our residents to come out and help us shape their Surrey Police Department.”

“Rabbi David Arrested’!

The most disturbing news of arrest of Canadian Rabbi David Mivasair along with other 17 of Jewish-American, Israeli and Palestinian activists by Israel Military, while helping to repair a road used by Bedouin pastoralists in the hills south of Hebron, in the Israeli occupied West Bank.
“The participants were violently grabbed and dragged along the rocky road to military vehicles, where they were eventually taken to a nearby police station in the Israeli settlement of Kiryat Arba”.
Rabbi David, is a well known an honest Human Rights Activist, also
is an active member of Independent Jewish Voices, and is there taking part in a 10-day delegation along with over 50 North American Jews organized by the US based Center for Jewish Nonviolence, that promotes Jewish Palestinian coexistence and opposes Israel’s 52 year old occupation of Palestinian lands”.
Rabbi David believer of truth is also well known in Vancouver Muslim community and is considered one of us.
That’s why it is intolerable to hear about his arrest. This kind of cruelty reminds us of the worst atrocity of the Gaza- Flotilla raid in 2010. That was a military operation in International Waters in the Mediterranean Sea.
At that time nine activists were killed on one Ship during the raid and ten Israeli Soldiers.
“The villages of the South Hebron Hills are often the targets of violence by Israeli settlers and of demolitions by the Israeli Military. Just this week several home demolitions have taken place and more are expected in the weeks and months to come”.
The villages notably lie in Area C, an area that takes up approximately 60% of the Israeli-occupied West Bank and is under full Israeli military control. Palestinians in Area C require permits from Israeli authorities for any construction or land rehabilitation work, to which they are systematically denied. Meanwhile, Jewish-only settlements, which also have their own roads, continue to expand.
This is called Human Rights violence. We don’t know why every kind of hatred is going on. Anti-Semitism and anti-Jewish violence is also on the rise. What are we going to achieve by being so hateful of certain people?
Who has done no harm. It is the Divine order not to punish the Son for the wrong doings of the Father or V/V. Opposing this law proves we have no fear of Allah-Creator of the Universe and owner of all of us.
Although Rabbi David is released, let us hope and pray that him and his group can leave safely.
